DJI welcomes Inspire 2 drone in its lineup

“Professional filmmakers and photographers always push to create images that have never been seen before, and DJI never stops trying to give them the tools to achieve their vision,” DJI CEO and Founder Frank Wang said in a statement. “Our newest flight platforms and stabilized aerial cameras are smarter, faster and more powerful than ever before.”

The DJI Inspire 2 is aimed at the professional and semi-professional filmmakers. Available in black or white, it has a stiffer but lighter magnesium-aluminum alloy body, a new redundant dual battery system which allows flight time up to 27 minutes. It also spot a dual-camera setup; a normal Zenmuse camera mounted on the main gimbal as well as a forward-facing FPV camera. This gives the best flight view for master controller while working with camera operator.

DJI  includes a new image processing system, called CineCore 2.0, which improves file processing and supports 5.2K video at 4.2 Gbps for Adobe Cinema Raw video capture, as well as support for ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444 XQ, H.264, and H.265. With all the quality, supports for fast file transfer is also available in the shape of PCIe built-in storage on top of the normal SD card.

Additionally, DJI improves the speed on the new Inspire 2 with the drone now can flies horizontal up to 67 mph and vertical at 16 mph. Flight time has also increased to 27 minutes compared to 18 minutes on Inspire 1, thanks to the new self-heated dual-battery system.

Price wise, the Inspire 2 will costs $2,999 for an aircraft only package and $6,198 ($5,999 for orders received before January 1st, 2017) for the Inspire 2 Combo pack which includes the Zenmuse X5S, CinemaDNG and Apple ProRes license.

At these prices, Inspire 2 definitely not a drone for everyone. Those who are looking for a consumer grade drone should look at Phantom 4 Pro which was announced the same day as this Inspire 2.

DJI updates its drone with the introduction of Phantom 4 Pro

DJI has released the Pro version of their Phantom 4. The DJI Phantom 4 Pro as it is called, is an update to an already best in class quadcopter. It has better camera, enhanced obstacle avoidance, greater battery life, more sensors and additional intelligent flight modes compared to its predecessor.

The Phantom 4 Pro able to capture slow-motion 4K video with up to 60 fps and maximum bitrate of 100mbps. With its 1-inch 20-megapixel sensor and 11.6 stops of dynamic range, the camera will be able to balance the footage in low-light condition. DJI also has built in mechanical shutter in the Pro edition, saying that it will eliminates rolling shutter distortion in fast moving scene.

Phantom 4 Pro has obstacle avoidance sensors on all four sides of its body, allowing the drone to detect and avoid any obstacle in any direction. The aircraft has three sets of visual sensors in front, behind and below while two infrared sensors at both sides. Top speed while in P mode is 31 mph and in sports mode, it can flies up to 45 mph.

Along with FPV FRENZY flying accessories, DJI also introduced a new remote controller with built-in 5.5 inch full 1080p screen. The new controller has an upgraded Lightbridge HD video transmission system which allows pilot to switch between 2.4Ghz and 5.8Ghz for optimal video transmission range. The DJI Go app is built into the screen thus making the use of mobile device unnecessary.

With all the new features and hardware, DJI still able to tweak the battery to give a cool 30 minutes of flight time for the Phantom 4 Pro, 5 minutes more than the previous Phantom 4’s.

DJI also introduced its intelligent flight system to include 5 new modes to Phantom 4 Pro; Draw, ActiveTrack, TapFly, Enhanced Return to Home and Gesture mode.

Phantom 4 Pro is now open for pre-order. $1,499 will get you a standard package while $1,799 is the price for the remote controller with the new built-in screen package.

This new version certainly has an appeal to all consumer drone enthusiast mainly due to its 5 direction obstacle sensing system. If you’re a looking to get a consumer drone, this is definitely the one to buy. For commercial drones, DJI also released Inspire 2 drone in the same event.

Skype now allows anyone using its service without an account

Microsoft has now made available of all audio and video calling features on Skype to everyone with or without a Skype account. Anyone can now join Skype as a guest to chat with friends and make voice or video calls to family.

This feature is only available on Skype for Web. To get started, go to Skype.com, click the Start a conversation button and add your name. You will then be given an unique link in which you can share with up to 300 people via group chat and up to 25 people on a voice or video call, with or without Skype account.

Anyone with the link can join the conversation from any Skype client or as a guest through Skype for Web. For guest, all conversations will only last for 24 hours, you will need to sign in or sign up for a Skype account if you don’t have one to use other Skype features such as continuing the conversation past 24 hours, calling a phone number or real-time translation using Skype Translator.

Super Mario Run launches for iOS on December 15th

Remember in September when Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto appeared onstage at an Apple event and announced his new game featuring Mario called Super Mario Run?

It has finally happened. Nintendo today announced that Super Mario Run will be launching on December 15th. The game will be made available at launch to 151 countries and will supports multiple language, including English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian, and traditional Chinese.

The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.

The game will be released in a sort of lite version where three different modes are available for you to try for free. To play the game in full, you’ll need to pay a one-time fee of $9.99.

WhatsApp rolls out video calling feature

WhatsApp is a cross-platform mobile messaging app which allows users to exchange message without having to spent on traditional SMS. Later in 2015 they added voice calling feature.

Now, the Facebook-owned WhatsApp in their blog announced that they finally launching video calling feature in its app. The feature which has been made available in its beta channel for past few weeks now coming to over 1 billion WhatsApp users worldwide.

The new feature, which is the most requested feature by fans is now available for iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices. Windows PC and MacOS however won’t be getting this feature at launch.

To use the new feature, you can start a call like you normally would, you will given an option to place a voice call and video call. Simply select the video call option and video calling will start.

As what would you normally get from a video call, you can switch between the rear and forward facing camera or mute the call.

To be able to use video calls in WhatsApp, both the caller and the recipient need to have the latest version of the app installed. If  you haven’t received the new update,
