How To Setup Unifi Home Networking For 3 Storey House

Most of the posts on this blog usually about something new or tips and tricks but today I’m thinking to gather some feedback on something, something important, something that I’m not fully figure it out yet.

Yes, I need some advice regarding setting up a clean home network. My house is a Semi-D type and I already applied for TM Unifi 20 Mbps Residential. My plan is to have the Broadband Termination Unit (BTU) and its Set Top Box (STB) on 1st floor, close to the TV area connected to my computer room which are on the 2nd floor.

My wired equipments are:

• 2x Desktops
• 2x NAS
• 1x Media Player
• 1x AiO Printer
• 1x CCTV DVR
• 3x VoIP Phones

My wireless equipments are:

• 1x iPad
• 3x Smartphones
• 2x Laptops
• 1x iPod
• 1x Xbox 360

Choices of peropherals I might buy:

• Mikrotik RB751G-2HnD
• TL-SG1016D
• Asus RT56U
• TL-WDR4300

So far, what I have in mind is this. A dual-band router that can cover the whole 1st and probably 2nd and 3rd floor, and I would want to have an additional AP on the 2nd floor is just to strengthen the signal and cover some blind spots and 3rd floor.
